“Build, Build, Build”, this is Rodrigo Duterte´s slogan that summarizes his ambitious plan to improve the Philippine infrastructure between 2017 and 2022. It is estimated that the country will invest around 144 billion US Dollars; 41 billion of these dollars are for highways and railroads.
The majority of these mega projects are under the P3 structure. The public part of the financing comes from entities like the ADB, or cooperation agencies from different Asian Countries, such as the Japanese JICA, which sees in the Philippines a great opportunity for the expansion of Japanese contractors.
Major projects like the Cebu Cordova Bridge, the MRT7 in Manila or the long-awaited highway Cavite Laguna CALAX, are currently under construction, and are the perfect example that the industry is moving forward in the country.
