Pacadar awards

Awards

In recognition of our works

Throughout its history, Pacadar has received a variety of awards that back our innovative spirit, technological excellence and quality. Here are a few of them:

  • Liquefied Natural Gas Terminal - El Musel (Gijón)

Liquefied Natural Gas Terminal - El Musel (Gijón)

In January 2011, PACADAR received the Safest Contractor Award in the executed work “Liquefied Natural Gas Terminal, Rack at the port "El Musel" (Gijón)”.

For the construction of the precast rack carrying the pipes (pipe racks), precast reinforced-concrete elements were mainly produced, such as columns of 0.50 x 0.50 m with lengths between 7 and 11 m, and beams of 0.40 x 0.50 m with several lengths.

PACADAR was present, checking that the elements were assembled properly. As a result of the good practices implemented, fruit of our staff's commitment and effort, Enagas and Fluor congratulated us on our good work and gave us the Safest Contractor Award.

  • Pavillion No. Five - Valencia Trade Fair

Pavillion No. Five - Valencia Trade Fair

PACADAR manufactured and assembled precast reinforced-concrete elements that made up the Special Pavilion 5 of the Valencia Trade Fair.

The Special Pavilion of the Valencia Trade Fair consisted of a large hall of rectangular shape and 15 m tall.

A statically indeterminate structure solution was used so as to enable the use of floor decks bearing large superloads, since this pavilion had the special feature of having its roof at the ground level of the access road, with vehicle traffic areas and decorative elements, and, therefore, a superload of 2,000 Kg/m2 needed to be borne. The roof consisted of statically indeterminate box girders with a steep parabolic variable depth, ranging from 1.40 m at the centre of the span to 3.00 on the pier.

On the other hand, a perfect balance between aesthetics and functionality was possible thanks to the (also precast) piers housing therein the lighting elements of the pavilion.

Precast slabs of permanent formwork were placed on these girders and 50 cm wide hollow-core slabs were set between such girders.

Then, on the surface thus formed, a 10 cm thick compressive layer was concreted on the hollow-core slabs, thus completing a deck with a width of 0.60 m in total.

Thus, the special feature of this work contributed to remarkably enhance the aesthetics, since we went beyond the typically sober aspect of precast concrete structures and we managed to create visually large spaces by using elements that were large both in weight and dimensions.

This work was recognized and received several architecture awards:

    • International Architecture Award 2010 from the Chicago Athenaeum and European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies, Central Forum and Pavilion 5. 2010.
    • National Building Award from ANDECE (Spanish National Association of Prefabricated Cement and derivatives). Pavilion 5. 2005.
    • Honourable Mention, International Prize BIBM. Pavilion 5. 2005.
  • Refinery Extension In Cartagena

    Refinery Extension In Cartagena

In 2008, PACADAR implemented and assembled the precast elements needed for the execution of the “refinery extension in Cartagena”, carried out by REPSOL.

On this occasion, a great amount of precast elements were manufactured, mainly beams and columns both for pipe racks and cooling towers, in order to build a large extension for the refinery in Cartagena.

The execution thereof was characterized by being accident-free and in compliance with the Health & Safety regulations. All this led to receiving an award for the outstanding safety performance carried out over the project.

  • V-Centenary Bridge– (Seville)

    V-Centenary Bridge– (Seville)

In 1991, the construction of the V-Centenary Bridge in Seville was completed. It was a cable-stayed bridge comprising 5 spans with dimensions of 48-102-265-102-48 metres. For this unique and complex structure, PACADAR produced precast reinforced-concrete elements such as double-T beams, segments, slabs and bracing beams. Likewise, accesses to both sides of the cable-stayed section were solved by structures with multiple spans on two supports and span lengths of up to 46 m, which were also solved by means of precast elements.

The V-Centenary Bridge was the final result of the extensive experience of the most influential national experts in projects and bridges at the time, where a composite structure was combined with precast elements, two concepts highly used in the traditional construction world.

This spectacular work received a great deal of social recognition and was awarded the Construmat 93 Award for encouragement to technological innovation and to construction quality.
