At the end of last year, Pacadar sealed its commitment with the joint venture Ferrovial Agromán-Laing O’Rourke for the manufacture of the rings that will make up the lining for the central section of the Thames Tideway Tunnel. With its 12.7 km in length, it is the longest section in this sewerage infrastructure for the British capital.
The lining configuration will be made up of 7,044 rings with a total precast concrete volume of 114,000 m3 and manufacturing started early this year. Once the ramp up period is completed, PACADAR U.K. is manufacturing an average rate of 15 rings a day.
In addition to its wide experience with the mobile plant system, and with a view to expand its operations in the country, Pacadar has installed a permanent factory on the banks of the River Thames (Thamesport) in just 4 months, while meeting all the industrial, administrative and environmental requirements existing in the United Kingdom. This facility, provided with a carousel system for the production of segments, will satisfy the demand for segment supply for the TBM and will make it possible to rigorously meet project deadlines.
This contract highlights the company's expertise in this type of project, apart from being a decisive milestone for the establishment of Pacadar in the United Kingdom, where this is expected to be just the first of many contributions to the country.
