Cable-stayed bridges
  • Bridges

Product Description

  • Prefabrication makes it possible to comprehensively resolve decks for cable-stayed bridges by means of precast segments.
  • Strict control over geometry and structural issues during the manufacture of the different parts of the structure in the factory.

Main Characteristics

  • Strict control over the geometry of the components.
  • Combination of different elements within the same structure.
  • Prefabrication makes it possible to build more quickly and simply than bridges built on-site.
  • Excellent geometry due to placement of specific moulds for these elements.

Types Of Structures Where It Can Be Used

  • Use of large load-bearing length-wise beams, precast in segments.
  • Use of precast beams between the main load-bearing components.
  • Use of crossties to support the beams length-wise.

Main Applications

  • Cable-stayed bridge spans between 100 and 250 m.
  • Used in Spain for the Fernando Reig Bridge over the Barxell River in Alcoy and for the V-Century Bridge in Seville (Spain).

Advantages

  • Avoids interference on the work-site and the need for complex on-site installations.
  • Shorter construction period, as the different components can be made in parallel.
  • The materials and pieces attained are fully checked prior to insertion in the deck. Quality assurance.
  • High quality, rigid moulds are created, permitting excellent geometric shape of the piece.

Construction Details

  • Typical arrangement of two large load-bearing beams at the edges, crossties and precast beams between the ties.
